A Fantastic Series In Store?

Emgrand">Billy Em">Emgrand – a son of champion Miata – and Fantastic Dotty are among the eye-catching names in this Thursday’s Group 3 Dean Industrial Maiden Dapto Heats (520m).

Ten Heats of the $22,500-to-the-winner take place kick off the three-week series and there looks several attractive prospects among the hopefuls.

Fantastic Dotty looks a strong chance to progress to the sEmi-finals after drawing box one in the second Heat.

Owned and trained by Jason Fletcher, Fantastic Dotty is among a promising litter from Goodesy and Light Fantastic.

Siblings Fantastic Tail and Fantastic Roxy have already won 10 races between thEm in their short careers and look potential Group winners.

Light Fantastic is also the mother of Fantastic Sid and Spiral, who both enjoyed a super 12 months of racing in NSW and are now with gun Victorian trainer Kel Greenough.

Fantastic Dotty trialled well earlier this year and returned from a near two-month break with another decent performance trial over the 440m at Canberra last month.

Billy Emgrand, who jumps from box three in the third Heat, has arguably the best pedigree in the entire series.

They were whelped to Barcia Bale, himself a Group 1 winner.

Billy Emgrand ran a handy 26.63 in a 472m performance trial win at Bulli last month and should challenge for series honours.

Nangar Storm (box six) is among a promising current litter for Dennis Barnes and looks the pick in the eighth Heat.

The son of Collision and Flash Fancy has trialled well over the 450m at Bulli and his siblings have all impressed so far while racing competitively.

Heat nine pits two of the potential standouts of the series, Space">Space and Time and Zamperini">Zamperini, against each other.

The Phil Goodsell-trained Space And Time (box five) has already clocked 30.16 in a performance trial at Dapto and looks handy.

Zamperini (box six) is rated by Ruth Williams as the best of her four hopes for the series.

He won a
Dapto performance trial last month in an eye-catching 29.83 and will be tough to stop if he can maintain that form.

She Knows Fabio (Heat one), Inshallah in Heat seven and Heard ‘Em Say, who goes in Heat 10, also look ones to watch.

The sEmi-finals take place next Thursday, with the final on Thursday, August 27.
