GRNSW Announces Buddy's Me Mate Inquiry

Greyhound Racing New South Wales (GRNSW) advises that it has received notification from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory of the presence of Sotalol in the sample taken from BUDDY’s Me Mate after it won the Bathurst RSL Club Stakes at the Bathurst meeting on 6 April 2015.

The reserve portion of the sample was sent to Racing Analytical Services (VIC) and has been confirmed to contain the prohibited substance. BUDDY's Me Mate's trainer Gregory McAlister has been advised of the irregularity,

As the prohibited substance detected is a Category 5 substance under the GRNSW’s penalty guidelines the matter is being dealt with having regard to the protocols established under the guidelines.

Mr McAlister has entered a guilty plea to a charge under Rule 83 (2) (a) via correspondence for having presented BUDDY’s Me Mate at Bathurst on 6 April 2015. GRNSW Stewards are now considering the submissions of Mr McAlister in relation to penalty and will determine what penalty should be imposed.
