Greyhounds Prohibited From Racing

By GRNSW

Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) has received notification from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory and initial certified analysis reports from Racing Analytical Services VIC (RASL) of the presence of the prohibited substance Recombinant Human Erythropoietin (EPO) in the following samples taken from:

Scarp Missile after this greyhound won the Ladbrokes Field V Favourite Stakes at Wentworth Park on 13 April 2015;

Breaking Mad after this greyhound won the AAA Radiator Specialists Maiden Series Final at Wentworth Park on 20 April 2015; and

Winsome Warrior after this greyhound won the ladbrokes.com.au Maiden heat at Wentworth Park on 4 May 2015.

Trainers Jodie Lord (Scarp Missile and Breaking Mad) and Melinda Finn (Winsome Warrior) have been advised of the irregularity of the samples.

Reserve portions of the samples will now undergo further confirmatory analysis by RASL and following receipt of the further confirmatory analysis, GRNSW will determine if an inquiry into these matters will be held for Mrs Lord and Mrs Finn.

Last week, GRNSW also arranged for further samples to be taken from Scarp Missile at the kennels of Trevor Jessop (South Australia), Breaking Mad at the kennels of Jodie Lord and Winsome Warrior at the kennels of Stephen Withers (Western Australia). These samples have also been sent for analysis.

Under the provisions of Gar 79A (3), the greyhounds named are prohibited from starting in any race until a sample clear of the prohibited substance is provided.

Breaking Mad and Scarp Missile were withdrawn from their respective races at Wentworth Park on Wednesday, 28 June and Angle Park on Thursday, 29 June.
