Jenmar Panther A Hot Shot For Richmond

By Stuart Turner

Jenmar Panther has made a flying start to his career and looks an eye-catching contender in the Heats of the $10,000-to-the-winner Phil Davis Memorial (535m) at Saturday’s Richmond meeting.

The impressive son of Kelsos Fusileer – sire to Fernando Bale - and Jenmar Grace chases a third consecutive victory in the fourth of five Heats.

Jenmar Panther scored a terrific 30.69 win here two starts back, before winning over the 515m at Bulli two weeks ago.

Owner-trainer Jenny Brown said the eye-catching newcomer, who jumps from box five, is a decent prospect.

“Ability-wise, I think he’s got a chance to be handy,” she said.

“He can win from any box and he can handle this distance. He ran very strongly at Bulli over the 515 metres in very hard conditions.

“His mother was a city winner who ran good times at Nowra, and he is going well too.

“Sometimes he doesn’t jump as well as he can (but) if he does here, he can win.”

Jenmar Panther’s win at Bulli took his record to three wins and three minor placings from seven starts.

He looks a decent contender for the series, which concludes next Saturday and should feature some exciting racing.

The Brad Barber-trained Billysoar (box four) has been racing solidly recently and looks the picks in Heat one.

He is a Wentworth Park winner and won here over the 535m in 30.62 earlier this year.

Heat two looks like a battle between impressive newcomer Boo (box seven) and Pedagogy in box two.

The latter has been running solidly recently but Boo had a good 31.03 win last start and looks to have the edge.

Heat three looks a very close fair with perhaps Ish Won (box six) having the advantage despite the tough draw.

The son of Superman and Katy Mac is in decent form, including securing a 30.75 win here last start.

He also won at Wentworth Park recently, has a decent enough record from the squeeze boxes and a enjoys visiting Richmond.

Serena Fly High could not make an impact on a tough field at Wentworth Park last start but looks the pick in Heat four.

The daughter of Bit Chili and Sky Fly High won superbly here last month in 30.46 and is a quality performer.

Nangar Flash has also shown promise at Wentworth Park and is worth considering.
