Tommy Brislane On Comeback Trail Again

By Stuart Turner

Two-time Group winner Tommy Brislane is making encouraging progress as he attempts to return to racing.

The 2014 NSW Greyhound of the Year finalist (pictured, white rug) has not run competitively since winning the Group 2 Bob Payne Spring Sprint last September due to injury.

Tommy Brislane, who has 12 wins from 16 starts and also triumphed in last year’s Group 1 Dapto Megastar, trialled impressively earlier this year but then saw his potential comeback delayed by a dislocated toe.

The son of Premier Fantasy and Mary Virginia, who is trained by Nowra Hill’s Steve White and has earned more than $160,000 in prizemoney, trialled superbly at Bulli last week.

Meanwhile, two other notable NSW performers, Silent Effective and I’m Pedro, are also on the comeback trail.

A 2014 NSW standout and the current 515m record holder at Bulli, Silent Effective has not run since breaking down at Canberra on May 10.

Owner Nathan Auld said Silent Effective, who is trained by Darren Sultana and has 14 victories in 31 starts, was aiming to return to racing in a couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, I’m Pedro could also be back soon after tearing a hip support shortly after his last start in May.

Owner-trainer Syd Wales said the greyhound, this year’s Richmond Cannonball runner-up and Golden Easter Egg semi-finalist who has 13 wins and 17 minor placings from 41 starts to his name, was now back in light training.

Wales said he is aiming to give the greyhound runs over 300m first up, but is “Quietly confident” I’m Pedro will eventually return to the city.
