Mrs Bubbles Aiming To Fly High Again

By Stuart Turner

Flying Mrs Bubbles and hot newcomer It’s Classified are the standouts at Thursday’s Angle Park meeting.

Mrs Bubbles jumps from box five in race five (515m) as one of the country’s most in-form greyhounds, having won her last four starts.

She has not run at Angle Park since May but is very smart from the middle boxes and in current form looks a good chance here.

The daughter of El Grand Senor and Kiowa Angel secured her latest triumph in last Sunday’s $15,000-to-the-winner Gawler Produce Final (531m) as a $1.90 shot – just weeks after joining new trainer MATTHEW Payne’s Lewiston kennel.

“That wasn’t a bad induction to the kennel,” Payne said with a grin.

“I’ve always thought she was a greyhound with ability.

“I think I’ll eventually give her a bit more ground. She’ll make a tremendous stayer, but we’ll keep her at this distance for now.

“In her current form she has to have a decent chance here.”

The win at Gawler last week took the career record of Mrs Bubbles to 13 wins and nine minor placings from 31 starts.

Mrs Bubbles has the squeeze box here but has a notable record from the middle boxes.

“She shows a bit of pace early,” Payne said.  “She’s got that about her.

Gawler is her favourite track but she’s run a 29.95 at Angle Park before.

“As long as she doesn’t hit any interference, I think she will be tough to stop."

Meanwhile, It’s Classified (box two) looks the one to watch in race four after making a super start to his racing career.

After clocking 29.95 at Angle Park last month, the Troy Murray-trained son of Velocette and Abbadale Elle went even better with a scorching 29.53 display at the track last week.

Fellow impressive newcomer Match Winner (box five) has run three strong races at Angle Park so far but It’s Classified should have the edge.

In other action, Young Gun McBain (race eight) races fresh from a storming 29.67 run over the 515m at Angle Park last start.

He is flying at the moment and should win here from box two.

Others to watch at Angle Park include Breaker Kahn (race two) and Rhynstone Jetta in race three.
