Are Jai Que Looks In Line For Another Win

By Stuart Turner

Are Jai Que returned to action superbly last week and trainer Michael Clayton is confident she can continue her winning ways at Dapto tonight.

The gun sprinter, whose win last Friday at Bulli was her 18th in 26 starts, jumps from box one in race eight (520m).

Are Jai Que has only raced twice in almost four months but loves visiting Dapto, with four wins from four previous visits here.

Clayton said his greyhound, who clocked 29.70 at Dapto in January, was the one to back here.

“The two dog here (Aphorism) is very handy but I will be disappointed if she gets beaten,” he said.

“I don’t think she can run 29.70 again yet but I think she will be in front.

Dapto is like Bathurst – it’s a leader’s track. Once you hit the front there, it’s very hard to stop you winning.

“I think she can lead here and I hope she can win.”

The daughter of El Grand Senor and From Somewhere has been a star since debuting in July last year and has already secured almost $50,000 in prizemoney.

Clayton’s greyhound was flying earlier this year but was sidelined between March and June after coming on season.

She scored a win at Bulli in early June before taking another break due to recover from niggling injuries.

Clayton described his greyhound’s 22.52 win over the 400m at Bulli last week as “one of her best yet”.

“She came from behind, overtook a good greyhound leading and got the win,” he said.

“The National Sprint is coming up but she would have to go super here to be ready for that.

“We’ll hopefully give her a couple of runs over the 500 at Dapto and then look to go back to Wentworth Park with her.”

This is one of five heats of the $4,000-to-the-winner Ann Makin Memorial (520m), which will be decided next week.

Takahi Max goes in the second heat (race seven, 520m) looking to make it three wins in four starts.

He has three victories and eight minor placings from 21 starts and was only beaten by a neck by classy Silver Label at Dapto last week.

Bedazzled Bead jumps from box four in race six aiming to extend her strong record at Dapto.

The daughter of Kinloch Brae and Razldazl Alice has earned two wins and two minor placings from her five previous visits to Dapto.

She has run 29.88 here and is strong from the middle boxes.

Look for Pippa Pepper (race three) and Too Many Daddys in race four to score victories.
