History Beckons For Fernando Bale

By Stuart Turner

Flying Fernando Bale will attempt to make history in this Saturday’s Group 1 Hudson Pacific Maturity Classic (525m) semi-finals after his latest Victory.

The superstar Victorian (pictured) Claimed his 16th consecutive triumph with a hard-earned 30.00 Victory in a heat of the $100,000-to-the-winner series on Saturday night.

Andrea Dailly’s all-conquering greyhound, who has captured the attention of racing fans across Australia with his wonderful 2015 exploits, equalled Miss Elly Mint’s record of 16 straight wins at TAB tracks with his latest success.

The son of Kelsos Fusileer and Chloe Allen, who has won six Group crowns already this year, was slow out of the boxes and looked to have a battle on his hands at the 50m mark.

He showed his amazing racing sense, however, hanging back slightly before finding the inside and powering home by a shade more than four lengths as a $1.10 shot.

The win took Fernando Bale’s record to an amazing 24 victories in 29 starts, with his prizemoney earnings closing in on the $700,000 mark.

Since finishing second behind Lamia Bale at The Meadows on February 28, Fernando Bale has been unstoppable.

Fernando Bale has drawn box six for the semi-final, from which he has a perfect four wins from four previous starts.

If he wins on Saturday night, Fernando Bale will become the first greyhound to win 17 consecutive races at TAB tracks

The strongest opponent should be kennelmate Lektra Outlaw (box seven), who defeated a field containing Group 3 Ladies Bracelet winner Elfen Bale in his heat.

Fernando Bale’s kennelmate Dyna Double One was the most impressive heat winner, coming home in a terrific 29.56.

He is in terrific form but has drawn box seven in a tough-looking semi-final containing recent Group 2 Horsham Cup winner Margins and dangerous Lektra CONCORD.

Exciting Queensland hope Pop The CORK was hugely impressive on his first visit to Victoria, securing a super 29.66 win from box eight.

He will jump from the same box in the semi-final but will have to cross the likes of heat winner Hogganaught (box one) and Elfen Bale in heat four.

The three-week series continues with four semi-finals this Saturday night, with the decider seven days later.
