Unbeaten Reventon Faces Toughest Test

By Stuart Turner

Unbeaten Reventon,  formidable Are Jai Que and boom pup Cleanser are among the standouts at tonight’s high-class Bulli meeting.

Reventon (box one) aims to continue his super start to racing when he goes for a fourth straight win in race 10 over 400m.

Charlie Riccio’s greyhound, a son of Barcia Bale and Pie Thief, has scored three smart victories at Goulburn over the 350m so far.

The quality field here contains this year’s Group 3 Ladbrokes Magic Maiden winner Black Bear Lee (pictured) but Reventon his hopeful can challenge.

“I have a big opinion of him, but this is his hardest test so far,” Riccio, who scored a win at Dapto last night with Wave To Kirra, said.

Black Bear Lee is a super little greyhound and you have the likes of Encosta Deplente and Jazzy Cowgirl, who are both terrific, too.

“I know he is a quality greyhound (though).

“I don’t want to hype him too much and look like a mug, but I’ll be disappointed if he doesn’t finish in the top three here.”

Reventon scored his latest victory on June 20 with a 20.05 run at Goulburn.

Riccio is confident his greyhound, who has trialled well at Bulli, will handle the step up in distance.

“He knows Bulli like the back of his hand,” he said. “He’s a 34 kilogram greyhound and will appreciate the big open stretches there.

“He’s got that turn of speed and the one box will obviously be a big help.

“His mother ran 500m at Wentworth Park and I am sure he will do too.

“I’m not sure how far he will go yet but he has ability.”

Are Jai Que (box 7) has her first start in more than a month in race six but looks good for yet another win.

The explosive greyhound, who has 17 wins from 25 starts, is unbeaten over the 400m and is formidable when drawn out wide.

Cleanser’s stock has fallen slightly since he burst onto the scene earlier this year but he looks the pick in race five (472m).

The Garry Williams-trained pup looked a possible star after clocking 29.50 at Dapto in April.

He has suffered injury problems and gone winless in three starts since then but looked better finishing third at Goulburn on June 30.

Ritza Roman (box 1) has seven wins from his first 12 starts and looks too strong from the rest in race nine.

Look for Espanyol and Dokmai to score wins in races three and four respectively.
