Cooke Hoping For Another Jackpot Win

By Stuart Turner

In-form pair Fabulous Storm and Master Jackpot aim to build on last week’s big wins at Thursday’s Albion Park meeting.

Master Jackpot jumps from box six in race five (520m) fresh from his victory in the $10,000-to-the-winner Cosmic Rumble @Stud Final at Lismore last Tuesday night.

That victory took the son of Vapour Whirl and Teddy’s Jackpot’s career record to an impressive 11 wins and two minor placings from 20 starts.

Swap Ya (box three) is also flying at the moment and has already impressed at Albion Park, but Master Jackpot’s owner-trainer Robert Cooke believes his greyhound can win again here.

“He’s been hard to beat at Albion Park,” Cooke said. “Every time he has been there before, his first sectionals have been good.

“If he gets some room and comes out clearly then he will be tough to stop.”

Master Jackpot has four victories from nine previous visits to Albion Park, including a 30.04 success over the 520m here last month.

Last week’s win was the second time in four years Cooke, who works out Woodview in the NSW Northern Rivers region, has taken out the Lismore race after Miss Joyful’s win in 2012.

“I don’t drink so I didn’t go mad celebrating,” he said. “I had a little cheer squad there, though, and you could probably hear them from two miles away.

“It’s a nice little bonus when you put the hard work in and get a result (like last week).

“I was really pleased with how he went.”

Fabulous Storm goes in race eight fresh from defeating a terrific field including gun Victorian Dyna Double One to claim last Thursday’s Group 1 Garrard’s Winter Cup at Albion Park.

Reg Hazlegrove’s greyhound jumps from box six in another high-quality race this week featuring double Group 1 winner Keybow, last year’s Winter Cup winner Flash Reality and recent Flying Amy Classic winner Elusive Desire.

This is a tough race but Fabulous Storm has been running very consistently this year and with a decent record from out wide should be able to pinch this.

Regular Albion Park winner Mullaway was going well before falling last start and can win race seven over the 710m.

DEAN Turley’s Lara Saint has been running very solidly recently over the 520m and with the red rug can win race nine.
