Stilton Blue Going For Happy Return At Bulli

By Stuart Turner

Stilton Blue makes his delayed racing return at Bulli tonight and trainer Phil Goodsell reckons his unlucky greyhound still has winning form to unleash.

Last year’s Group 3 Nowra Summer Puppy Classic winner and Group 2 Bulli Gold Cup runner-up (pictured), who has only raced once in the last nine months due to injury problems, jumps from box one in race nine over 400m.

The son of Where’s Pedro and She’s A Player, who was also a runner-up in last year’s Ultra Sense at Wentworth Park, has a strong record of three wins and three minor placings from seven previous visits here.

Goodsell has been pleased with Stilton Blue’s comeback from his latest injury and believes he can be a city-class performer.

“He’s been trialling really quick, with a couple of good ones at Nowra,” he said.  “He’s been looking really strong with good speed as well.

“I know he's been out for a while but he is still a young dog – only three. I’m sure has some good racing left in him.

“The aim is to work him up and get him back to the 500m at Wentworth Park.”

Stilton Blue’s super 2014 took his record to 14 wins and 12 minor placings from 38 starts before a hip injury curtailed his year in November.

He returned after almost five months’ out injury on April 1 at Bulli, but could only finish eighth after sustaining a toe injury during the race.

Goodsell’s greyhound, who has won almost $70,000 in prizemoney so far, has been out since then but with this draw could provide a winning opportunity.

Windaroo Lad (box eight) has run some solid races at Bulli in his career and looks to pose the biggest danger here.

Scratchings could also open the door for exciting Reventon, who is the second reserve.

Charlie Riccio’s super newcomer has won all three starts so far, including a terrific 19.79 win over the 350m at Goulburn two starts back.

Elswehere at Bulli, Asa Hard Knox looks the best bet of the night in race three.

JODIE Lord’s pup ran a strong 29.55 over the 515m at Dapto, has performed well in his three-race career so far and looks ideally drawn with the red rug here.

Newcomer Barking Orders (box five) has trialled smartly here and looks the best in race two.

Bee Man is in flying form with five wins from six looks the pick in race six.

Another from the Lord kennel, Discombobulated (box six), should have enough to win race six.
