Mann She's Fast Aims For Four At Bathurst

By Stuart Turner

Home Comforts have been serving Mann She’s Fast a treat recently and she looks a strong chance to score another win in today’s feature race at Bathurst.

The daughter of Messi and My My Machine, who has won her last three starts, jumps from box eight in the Bathurst RSL Club Sprint Series Final (450m, race six).

Owned and trained by Dubbo’s Robert Hatton, Mann She’s Fast spent time with Sydney trainer Justin King and NSW Northern Rivers-based mentor Dean Turley before reuniting with Hatton earlier this year.

Since then she’s been flying and Hatton thinks she can make it four in a row here.

“I think it’s the Dubbo air,” he said with a grin. “She likes the peace and quiet of the country.

“I think it was a bit hot for her in the north. I brought her back, gave her a rest and it seems to have worked.

“I don’t think the greyhounds in six and seven are fast beginners here. If she gets a clear run, I think she can win.”

A city-class greyhound who has run over the 520m at Wentworth and Albion parks, Mann She’s Fast’s win last week took her record to nine wins and six minor placings from 24 starts.

Her time of 26.37 was almost a second slower than her best over the distance but Hatton said he was unconcerned about that.

“I was really pleased with last week's run,” he said. “Even though the time wasn’t great, the way she finished was terrific.

“She keeps delivering for us. She’s a big strong girl and with her long legs, she’s formidable over this distance.

“I think she’ll easily get back to the 500m.”

Mavriki Pano (box one) and Betsie Cargo in box six both look strong as well.

Box six contender Big Red won her maiden in a terrific 17.84 last week and looks the pick in the Betfair Blue Paws Maiden Series Final (race three, 307m).

Classy Second Line, who just missed out on a Group 1 Peter Mosman Classic final berth recently, should win from box one in race eight.

Relatively new trainer Hatton is a semi-retired concrete wall tank builder and works alongside son Glenn, who combines owning greyhounds with running a coffee shop in Sydney’s Neutral Bay.

“I’m starting to get the hang of training now,” Hatton senior said with a grin. “I’m really enjoying it as well.

“It keeps me active and it’s better than sitting around doing nothing.

“When you get the satisfaction of a winner, it’s a big thrill.”
