Fantastic Pair Claim More Wins For Fletcher

By Jeff Collerson

Super siblings Fantastic Spiral and Fantastic Sid have swept all before them in 2015 and their baby sisters now look potential stars too.

Fantastic Tail made it four wins from four at Wentworth Park on Monday night, with Fantastic Roxy claiming a second win in three starts at the same meeting.

Fantastic Tail won from box seven in a heat of the Ladbrokes Sprint while Fantastic Roxy, a luckless placegetter at Dapto on Thursday after winning at her racetrack debut there, went under 30 seconds while winning by six lengths in a fifth grade race.

Both are ones to watch although Fletcher believes Fantastic Tail's career lies in a longer distance than 520m.

"She will be doing her best work at the finish but her future is going to be as a stayer," Fletcher said.

"Fantastic Roxy was in an easier race and she has also trialled really well for me at Wentworth Park, clocking 24.30 in a post-to-post hand-slip.

"Fantastic Tail has had a hand-slip and a trial from the 520m boxes at Wenty and went reasonably well but she does not have the box manners and early speed of Fantastic Roxy.''

Fletcher's duo are from the second litter whelped by his phenomenal brood bitch Light Fantastic, who was a talented but enigmatic stayer.

"This litter by Goodesy is just 21 months of age but five out of the six offspring are very smart, with one, as yet unraced, the fastest Light Fantastic has produced,'' Fletcher said.

Sydney's fastest beginner Are Jai Que won 16 of 24 races before being spelled but trainer Michael Clayton believes she has come back "better than ever'' following her 17th win at Bulli last Wednesday night.

"She was sidelined for a total of almost three months through a seasonal condition and then picking up a stone bruise on her foot in a trial at Dapto three weeks ago,'' Clayton said.

"At her first run back from all that she trialled 22.63sec at Bulli before recording 22.39sec at her first race start there on Wednesday.

"Bulli is not really her track because Are Jai Que is better on a two turn course so I was over the moon at how well she went.

"The track was on the slow side and I believe that on a fast surface she would have given the record a shake.

"I won't be rushing her back to Wentworth Park and Dapto is possibly her next assignment.''

With his wonderful greyhound Zipping Abby enjoying a well earned respite from racing western districts trainer Ron Seymour lost no time in making a successful return to TAB tracks with Zipping Peach scoring impressively over 400m at Richmond last Wednesday.

Although Zipping Peach led throughout to win the short course sprint she is bred to stay, being a half sister to the Peter Dapiran-trained long-distance star Zipping Maggie, who has won $108,000 in stakes.

Zipping Abby has won nine of 24 starts for $40,000 prize-money and in recent weeks has reached the Group 3 Ladies Bracelet and Richmond Oaks finals as well as qualifying for The Ambrosoli, another group event.

"She is pottering around at home, just having a short break because she has had a busy campaign this year,'' Seymour said.

"Zipping Peach is only five months younger than Zipping Abby but got off to a late start because she broke a bone in her wrist soon after I got her from owner-breeder Marty Hallinan in September.

"The wrist injury put her out of action until Christmas but then when I got her going again she kept sitting down in the boxes.

"I had to give her plenty of box practice to break her out of that but she pinged the lids at Richmond so hopefully Zipping Peach will go forward from here.''
