Fernando Bale Headlines Peter Mosman Nominations

By Jess Moran

Fernando Bale, arguably the best sprinter in Australia at the moment, headlines the nominations for the Heats of the Group 1 Peter Mosman Classic at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

The Andrea Dailly-trained greyhound has drawn somewhat awkwardly in box five in the fifth Heat of the night, where he will go up against a quality field which includes the in-form Tiggerlong Killa (box four), Magic Maiden finalist Kihael Kaluna (box eight) and the Jason Mackay-trained Zipping Carter (box seven).

Fernando Bale (pictured) is undefeated at Wentworth Park in his career, with his last coming in April when he won the Group 1 Golden Easter Egg. Prior to that, Fernando Bale had also been victorious in the Group 1 National Derby at the Glebe track in February.

In addition to Fernando Bale, the red-hot Dailly kennel will be making the trip up with another six runners including Crackerjack Max (Heat two, box one), Crackerjack Burn (Heat one, box two), Kenju Bale (Heat three, box one), Lecktra Outlaw (Heat four, box three), Dyna Double One (Heat seven, box six) and Elfen Bale (Heat eight, box two).

Heat four is one of the more open races of the night with Multiple Group race finalists Jingjing (box five), Winsome Prince (box six) and Spacecraft (box eight) going head-to-head.

Last week's Group 2 Cyril Rowe Bulli Cup winner Kayda Shae has drawn box seven in Heat six but will face a tough field which also includes the likes of consistent Wentworth Park performer Constable Sniff (box six) and Avenging Gun (box one) who will be looking to secure his fourth win a row.

The first Heat of the night looks like a speedy affair where lid-pingers such as Ruebelly Magic (box one), Syndicate (box six) and La Grand Logie (box seven) will look to battle it out in the early stages of the race.

In Heat seven, No Donuts (box three) looks like one of NSW's best hopes in the series after drawing box three in one of the easier Heats of the night.

Fernando Bale's litter-mate Elfen Bale will start as one early favourites in the final Heat of the night alongside Ritza Rossi who had an impressive 10-length victory at Wentworth Park last Saturday in a personal best time.
