Swain's Ladies Ready To Run in Dapto Oaks

By Jess Moran

Rue De Kahn will commence her campaign to complete a rare Oaks double when she lines up in a heat of the Supporters Club Dapto Oaks on Thursday night.

The Dean Swain-trained greyhound took out the Group 3 Unibet Richmond Oaks earlier this month and will now set her sights on winning the Dapto version where $7000 awaits the winner.

Rue De Kahn goes into Thursday night’s heat coming off a tough run in a heat of the Group 2 Cyril Rowe Bulli Cup last Friday night.

Despite that defeat, Swain is confident the multiple group winner can bounce back at one of her preferred tracks.

"She's had some good wins at Dapto before and her trial times there are fantastic so I'm optimistic,” Swain said.

"She had never seen Bulli before and missed the kick because of the silent lure," Swain said.

"The conditions were pretty terrible and the track was sloppy, so when you take everything into account she actually ran pretty well to finish third.

Rue De Kahn will jump from box two in the last of four heats on Thursday night, a disappointing draw according to Swain.

"Although she's got box two, Ruebelly Magic in box three is an absolute lid pinging crasher," he said.

"It's a concern that Rue De Kahn might get cut-off right at the start. If she does, she might be in trouble."

Swain will have two runners in the Oaks heats with Ella Has Class competing in heat two from where she will jump from box five.

"She has run 29.58 in a trial down there and won really well in a heat of the Dapto Puppy Classic late last year," Swain said.

"As long as they leave her alone and she is up near them at the first turn, she will probably get the win."

Swain has big plans for Ella Has Class after the Dapto Oaks series which could see her eventually end up in the staying ranks.

"The problem I'm having with Ella (Has Class) though is, she is great beginner but has no first section.

"She is really strong towards the end of a race and I'm thinking after this series of stepping her up to the middle distance to see how she goes.

"If she can handle that, I may even step her up again to the 720m."

Other runners in the Dapto Oaks heats include consistent Wentworth Park performer and Group finalist Miss Sueko, who jumps from box one in the same heat as Rue De Kahn.

Jason Magri will be hoping his new Irish import Bedazzled Bead can continue improve after registering two wins and second place in her first three starts for the kennel.

She jumps in the third heat of the Oaks from box three and looks like one of the favourites.

In other racing at Dapto on Thursday night, the Kevin Clunne-trained Syndicate will be looking to notch up a fourth win from his past five starts in race four.

Fantastic Skye looks to a have a prime draw in box one for the Redden Photo/Video Maiden Final (520m) in race three.

The Jason Fletcher-trained greyhound started her career off in style last week with a 15 length win and a BON time of 29.79.
