Strong Hand For Clayton At Goulburn Today

By Jess Moran

Rarely a Goulburn greyhound meeting goes by without trainer Michael Clayton winning a race, and this afternoon’s 10-race card does not appear to be any different.

The Sutton Forest trainer has two good chances lining up, starting with Seresin in race five.

Despite being unable to break her maiden status after five starts, Clayton has a high opinion of the young greyhound.

"People haven't seen the best of her on a race track yet. Her past few starts have been promising and I think she is slowly finding some good form,” Clayton said.

Clayton is also not concerned by with Seresin’s draw in box six.

"Box six won't worry her and if she comes out and runs her best time she is very capable of winning, but Reventon in box one will be very tough to beat,” he said.

Clayton’s second runner Printer’s Ink will go straight after Seresin in race six.

The two greyhounds are from the same litter, but unlike his sister Printer’s Ink has been able to win his last two races and looks a good bet to make it three in a row on Tuesday where he will jump from box one.

"He had his first start down in Victoria where he didn't go too well and then his owner decided to send him up here and the move has obviously suited him,” Clayton said.

"He is good reliable, beginner and I expect him to go straight to front. If he does that, he should win."

Clayton also believes the best is yet to come from Printer’s Ink.

"I've started him out Goulburn to get his confidence and fitness up but I think he will be much better suited to a two-turn track,” he said.

"When the time comes, I'll probably take him to Dapto because it is a leaders track. Then depending on how he goes I might take him to Wentworth Park down the track.”

Racing starts at Goulburn at 12.22pm today with 10 races on the card.
