Blurred Lines Looking Four-Midable At Angle Park

By Jess Moran

A relocation from Victoria to South Australia has proven to be a fruitful move for the in-form Blurred Lines.

Ben Rawlings took charge of the greyhound at the start of the year after his owners decided to send Blurred Lines interstate.

The move looks to have paid-off with Blurred Lines, winning seven races from eleven starts at Angle Park for his new kennel.

He had previously been under the guidance of Kelly Bravo who successfully guided the chaser to two Group 1 finals and 11 wins throughout Victoria.

"Although he'd been performing well in Victoria and made the Adelaide Cup and Hobart Thousand finals, I believe the owners thought the level of racing in Victoria was too competitive and he wasn’t quite up to standard there," Rawlings said.

"He had issues with his diet when I got him, but I spoke with Brett Bravo and we got that sorted out which really seemed to help but then it was a matter of basically starting all over again with him and getting his confidence up.

"Now he's coming out the boxes really well and is posting terrific sectionals."

Blurred Lines has won three on the trot and is looking to extend that record on Thursday in race eight, the Graham White Window Clean Free For All (515m).

The greyhound has drawn box seven and Rawlings believes the draw will give Blurred Lines an edge.

"I like him drawn wide. He tends to step-off going through the first turn if he's drawn inside where as he cuts over and runs a straight line when he's drawn wide," he said.

"The greyhounds in boxes one (Gun McBain) and two (Barnes Bay) have a lot of early speed, so he will need to cross and be up with them at the first turn to have the best chance.

Rawlings has been training for nearly six years and currently has more than 20 greyhounds in work, but considers Blurred Lines the best in his kennel.

"He's by far the quickest greyhound I have and definitely the most successful in recent times. Hopefully he can keep his great form going for a while yet."

Also going at Angle Park on Thursday is consistent chaser Kalden Gambino in race seven. He is looking to make amends for a lacklustre run on Monday where he was slow out and never looked like threatening.

He has box one and should the lead the field, who look like a considerably easier task than what he faced on Monday.

In race six, Viral Bale will look to finally break through after knocking at the door in its past few runs. The greyhound has been in the placings in its past four starts and could break through here.

Despite lacking early speed, Viral Bale is well drawn in box three and will be looking to swoop in at death and steal the win.

Coolabah Jet for trainer Trevor Jessup will be searching for his fourth win in-a-row in race three but will have to overcome a tough draw from box five and the likes of Placid Planet (box seven) and CASH In Looper (box one) who have good pace and could be danger if they get to the lead early.
