Blue Thunda Aims To Boom Again At Gosford

By Stuart Turner

NSW short course star Blue Thunda returns at Gosford tonight and looks a great chance of securing yet another win in her brief but brilliant career.

The dazzling John Miles-trained sprinter, who has a superb record of 14 wins from 16 starts, is back after a two-month spell in the Steve Blyth Electrical Sprint Series Heat One (400m, race three).

Blue Thunda has been away from the track as she has been in season but has trialled well in advance of resuming competitive racing.

She looks head and shoulders above the rest here and looks an outstanding chance of securing another triumph.

“I’m sure she will come back fine,” Miles said. “We just had to keep her away from for a while before making sure she was ready to return.

“I’ll keep her going over the 400m and see where we go with her.”

The daughter of El Grand Senor and Whinging Wrench has been virtually unbeatable since debuting in March last year.

Blue Thunda’s record of five consecutive victories came to an end last start at Maitland, where she finished third over the 400m, but she won on her only previous visit to the Central Coast track.

She has run consistently below 23 seconds so far in her career, though, and is very strong from the inside boxes.

Ay Goodes (box three) has been in better form over his last two starts and looks a potential threat, but it is hard to see Blue Thunda losing out here.

The Harry Sarkis kennel is going well at the moment and he can score another win with Entreaty in race five.

Entreaty has won on her last two visits to Gosford, including a sound 30.06 run over the 516m here last week, and can win again here.

Lithgow Panther (box four) ran second here last week to Certainty but can turn the tables this week in race seven.

He missed the kick last start and can be a slow starter, but the strong finisher has a super record from box four and is in decent form.

Irish Dance had a terrific win from box five last week here and looks good to repeat with the same draw in box two.

Beer Boy and Schooner Doll can complete the quaddie in races six and eight respectively, while promising Lochinvar Camila can build on her impressive run last week with victory in race nine.
