Jingjing Back And Firing

By Jeff Collerson

The return of this year's National Futurity finalist Jingjing">Jingjing highlights Friday night’s Wentworth-park">Wentworth">Wentworth Park racing but Chris Nutt's high-class greyhound has a difficult task in the opening event.

Jingjing (pictured, white rug) has box six in the Wentworthpark.com.au Stakes and in a race crammed with early pace she takes on front runners Magpie Hawk, Scarp Missile and Camacho.

Jingjing, whose box manners are near faultless, is expected to lead throughout and looks to be over her recent injury problems.

“When she won at Bulli at her most recent start on March 4 she tore chest muscles and hurt her shoulder,' trainer Chris Nutt said.

“It has taken a while to bring her back but her two most recent trials at Dapto indicate she is going as well as ever.

“Last Monday morning Jingjing went very fast in a post to post hand-slip at that track.’’

Jingjing has had a dozen starts for seven wins and four placings and she has broken the 30-second barrier at Wentworth-park">Wentworth Park.

Trainer Kevin Pearce believes a drop in class will put Bass Louder back in the Wentworth-park">Wentworth Park winner’s circle on Friday night.

Bass Louder has box one in the Ladbrokes.com.au Stakes and Pearce expects his dog to lead throughout.

“Although he has won only one from five Wenty starts, Bass Louder has run into Rue De Kahn, Queen Esther and I’m Pedro at his past three races there,’’ Pearce said.

“He has been tackling top notchers who had dropped back in grade but he is in a more suitable race on Friday.

“Bass Louder has been jumping better since I gave him some box practice.

“Although the runner-up took ground off Bass Louder when he won over 450m at Bathurst on Monday, his effort was good.

“Another greyhound cut him off early and he had to work hard to reach the lead so he it wasn’t surprising he got a bit tired in the run home.

“His time of 25.74 was terrific because the track was heavy.’’

Bass Louder boasts the remarkably consistent record of 25 starts for 13 wins and 10 placings.

Fancy Dancer, who overcame a slow getaway to win at Wentworth-park">Wentworth Park on January 12, will be favourite to win her fifth successive race in Friday night’s third heat of the AAA Radiator Specialists Sprint (520m).

Trained in Queensland by Dave Irwin, Fancy Dancer recorded a sensational 26.93 to win over 480m at Grafton at her latest outing on March 19.

That time was .08 inside the old track record held by another Irwin-trained greyhound, Orbison.

In her Wentworth-park">Wentworth Park win in January Fancy Dancer swept around her rivals to take the lead on the back straight before scoring in 30.30.

Her recent Northern Rivers times suggest she is a better greyhound now.

Friday night’s main 520m event, the third and fourth grade Rapidvite Stakes, features a duel between Chasing The Line (box one) and Temora Cup winner All Too Fancy in box two.

Chasing The Line’s inside running gives him the edge and although he had box eight when he clocked 29.88 winning at Wentworth-park">Wentworth Park on April 4, he will make full use of the rails trap here.
