Exhibitionist Can Be A Big Show At Lismore

By Stuart Turner

Darryl Chapman believes a clear run could spell success for his classy chaser Exhibitionist in the Koellner Steel Ballina Stakes (520m) at Tuesday’s Ladbrokes Park Lismore meeting.

The sprinter jumps from box four in what looks a cracking sixth race, with the opposition including handy Queenslander Renatus and potential Golden Easter Egg contender Magic Display (pictured, white rug).

Exhibitionist won well here two starts back from box four when she had a vacant box on her outside.

It is the same scenario again here and owner-trainer Chapman believes that will again suit his charge.

“She doesn’t like to be crowded by the bigger dogs,” he said. “There was plenty of room last time (at Lismore), which helped.

“If she gets to the front she can beat anyone at these country meetings.

“She needs to be clear to win – she’s not a dog that can come from behind and win.

“If she gets clear, she has a good chance.”

Exhibitionist returns to Lismore after a seventh-place finish in strong company last start at Wentworth Park on March 7.

She has a solid pedigree, with 17 wins and 12 minor placings from 58 starts to her name.

A daughter of Superman x Naughty Nicki, she was with top Queensland trainer Tony Brett for a while before returning to Chapman’s kennels on the NSW North Coast.

“She has been in about a dozen finals but fell three times,” Chapman said.

“We were going to give her a couple of runs at Wentworth Park and then pair her with Collision, but she ran a 29.70 at Wentworth Park (in November) and won a heat of the Brisbane Cup.”

Magic Display won last start at Casino on Friday over 484m, while Renatus was second in the same race and is also handy.

Exhibitionist was being primed for this Saturday’s Golden Easter Egg heats, but will now contend for the Ultra Sense on Saturday, April 4 and next month’s Group 3 Ladies Bracelet.

“She’s a notch below the very top greyhounds,” Chapman said.

“She has still got decent ability (though) and I think she can win again here.”

Master Jackpot (race five) looks the bet of the night.

Box three’s Banc De Kahn (race seven) and Head Shy (box four, race eight) can complete the quaddie.

Pay Da Band looks a great chance to claim race three.
