Quasi Bale will take part in the heats of the Golden Easter Egg after a terrific win in the Group 2 Remedial Waterproofing Services Richmond Derby (535m) on Friday night.

Trained by Mark Delbridge, Quasi Bale ($19) began well from box four in the feature race, and challenged for the lead with No Donuts as the field went through the first turn.

Down the back straight though, Quasi Bale went into a different gear, powering away from No Donuts and running away for a 4 3/4 length win.

Quasi Bale won in 30.22, with a first sectional time of 5.38 and a phenomenal run home time of 14.74, which had regular Richmond racegoers gobsmacked.

No Donuts, who started race favourite, finished in second place, while Zipping Sonny finished 1/2 length away in third.

The win was Quasi Bale's 12th from 24 starts, with Delbridge confirming that the son of Bekim Bale will now head to Wentworth Park next weekend to compete in the Golden Easter Egg series.

No Donuts, who finished second in the Richmond Derby, will now head to the heats of the Group 3 New Sensation according to his trainer Johannes "Hank" Vanderburg.
