Tribunal Grants Stay Of Proceedings

By GRNSW

Greyhound Racing New South Wales (GRNSW) advises that the New South Wales Racing Appeals Tribunal has received several applications to appeal a GRNSW decision to suspend the greyhounds listed below. Each of the applications also included an application to stay the effect of the suspensions while ongoing investigations into alleged live baiting offences continued.

The greyhounds which are the subject of the applications are:

- Awesome Project

- Bedazzled Bead

- Cosmic Break

- Keybow

- Over Limit

- Recruitment

- Zipping Saxon

- Zipping Spike

- Zipping Willow

(collectively referred to as the Greyhounds).

The Greyhounds were suspended pursuant to rule 92(5) of the Greyhounds Australiasia Rules as they were connected with greyhound trainers who had been suspended by Greyhound Racing Victoria for allegedly engaging in live baiting.

The New South Wales Racing Appeals Tribunal has granted an interim stay of the effect of the suspension until 12pm on Monday 16 March 2015 to allow the Greyhounds to nominate for the heats of the Golden Easter Egg and other feature races held during the GBOTA Easter Carnival.

This interim ruling has been made pending the Racing Appeals Tribunal’s hearing of the appeals lodged in relation to the suspensions imposed on the Greyhounds.
