Spacecraft Ready To Fly High At Gosford

By Stuart Turner

Spacecraft and Gosford seem a natural fit and owner-trainer Lorraine Atchison is confident her charge can secure another win at the NSW Central Coast track on Tuesday.

A son of legendary Brett Lee, Spacecraft jumps from box four in the night’s fifth race, the Betfair Blue Paws Super Series (515m) heat and looks a strong chance to claim another win.

Atchison’s city-class chaser secured his seventh victory in 19 starts here last week with a strong 29.66 run over the 515m and looks the standout in this race.

He certainly enjoys his visits to the track and Atchison believes Spacecraft will record an “exceptional” display here.

“I trialled him at Gosford when he was 17 or 18-months old and he took my breath away,” she said. “I’ve been involved with dogs for a long time but I couldn’t believe it.

“He pinged the lids and went ‘whoosh’.

“We hadn’t managed to get back to Gosford but I had never forgotten how well he did there.

“I was expecting a good run when we finally got back there last week and that’s what he did.

“I think he will do exceptionally well here.”

Spacestar has six other minor placings to his name and is among a strong litter that also includes another handy performer, Flamin’ Go.

The chaser has struggled on his last two starts from box four but Atchison believes the vacant three box here will Spacecraft’s chances.

“I think it will make it easier,” she said.

“He likes to be off the track. Not that he runs wide but he just takes that first couple of steps to get into motion.

“The two dog (Diesel Train) has a bit of pace but I think again that will help Spacecraft.

“He is an outstanding animal (and) I definitely believe he has a Group race in him.”

Miss Migaro (race seven) and Nightwatchman in race eight both have plenty of ability and look good for wins here.

Seven Jacks is another city-class performer and can complete the quaddie with victory in race six.
