Clayton's Hope Can Skittle The Rest At Goulburn

By Stuart Turner

Michael Clayton has been enjoying recent success and Cosmic Skittle looks a good chance for his kennel at Tuesday’s Goulburn meeting.

Clayton’s Charge jumps from box four in race nine, the www.bookies.com.au Stakes (350m), having enjoyed a superb start to her racing career.

The promising sprinter zoomed home here on her debut last week over the 350m in a winning time of 19.84 – 13 lengths ahead of her nearest challenger.

Clayton, who has secured notable wins over the last months with highly promising Are Jai Que, is fired up for another triumph here.

“To see her win by that 13 lengths was brilliant,” he said. “She looks a decent prospect.

“Having greyhounds like this is making a lot easier to get up in the mornings.

“You get up in the morning feeling tired and then you see (greyhounds like this) in the kennels and you feel wide awake.

“I just hope it can continue.”

A son of 2010 Golden Easter Egg winner and notable sire Cosmic Rumble, Cosmic Skittle looks a standout prospect.

She was not up against the strongest field last week but there was no denying the quality of her win and she looks a strong chance here.

Lejit Bomber (box six) looks the toughest opponent here but based on last week’s showing, Clayton’s Charge is the one to back.

Clayton also has a good chance of doubling up at Goulburn with another of his hopefuls, Cosmic Bob, racing in the first over 350m.

He seems to lacks the devastating speed of his kennelmate but is the fastest here, has run solidly so far in his brief career and looks to have decent ability.

Senor Bond enjoyed a rare win at Gosford last start and may be worth backing in race five, going over 350m.

Roma Girl has been racing well elsewhere recently and looks a strong  contender in the day’s seventh race over 350m.

What Will Do has been inconsistent of late but has proven ability at country tracks, ran well last start at Dapto and should be a decent bet for race nine (457m).
