Radwanska Aiming For Happy Return At Bulli

By Stuart Turner

Promising pup Radwanska has suffered a real rollercoaster ride on the track so far but trainer Kristy Sultana is hopeful the greyhound can enjoy success at Bulli tonight.

The sprinter jumps from box six in the second Bulli-Wenty Heat (472m), the night's seventh race, Aiming to kick-start her racing career.

Radwanska was a hugely impressive winner of the $15,000-to-the-winner Globe Memorial Maiden Final at Richmond in November last year but was injured seconds after crossing the finishing post.

She has now returned to fitness and Sultana thinks she may have a decent chaser on her hands.

“She was showing potential,” she said. “We are hoping she will be up there with some of our other good greyhounds.

“She’s been back in work and we would not have had her in if we didn’t think she could run a decent race.

“We will put her in and hopefully we won’t see any dramas this time.”

A daughter of former Melbourne Cup winner Dyna Tron and Proven Lily, Radwanska debuted with a third-place at Bulli in October.

She then dominated the Globe Memorial series, winning both her Heat in final over 535m in 30.72 and 30.89 respectively.

Radwanska has perhaps not drawn favourably here and will likely face a strong challenge from Paua Explosion (box one) but western Sydney trainer Sultana thinks her charge is not without claims.

“She seems like she pings the lids,” she said. “She does look better when she is on the inside.

“I don’t know too much about the other greyhounds here. I think if she jumps well then she will have a chance.

“We will put her in here and then see what happens.”

Classy chaser Highly Respected looks a decent chance in the night’s fifth race over 400m.

He finished third on his return here last week after more than a month out but should be stronger for the run and looks a strong contender from box eight.

Nightwatchman (box one) produced a strong run in the recent National Derby Heats and looks drawn to win the night’s sixth race.

Martin Clegg has looked useful so far in his dozen outings and also looks the one to watch in race eight.
