Winning Chance Not A Fantasy At Richmond

By Stuart Turner

Craig Pollard believes promising Fantasy Marlow can make a successful racing return at Richmond on Saturday.

The newcomer jumps from box two in the night’s tenth and final race, the Red Lea Chicken Stakes (400m).

Fantasy Marlow had run solidly over the 414m at Lithgow in his early racing career and shown some notable early pace before his last race, a sixth place finish at Richmond on November 1.

Pollard has freshened the chaser up and the owner-trainer hopes the break may have done him good.

“I’ve slipped him up the straight at my property and he’s done okay,” Pollard said.

“The whole lot of my kennel has been out for a while. They had a few injuries and I just wanted to have their blood checked and freshen them up a bit.

“He has been going well at Lithgow but obviously it’s a bit different when you get to TAB tracks.

“He has a bit of early speed and I’m hoping he can still show that.”

A son of Lochinvar Marlow x Fantasy Owl, Fantasy Marlow has decent pedigree and looks a decent lid-pinger.

He is boxed well here and looks a decent chance for the win, with the strongest opposition likely from lightly raced Truly Remarkable in box eight.

Pollard is hoping to give the chaser a go over the 500m eventually but for now will be happy just to see him back fit and racing.

“I was slipping him post-to-post at Richmond and we were starting to push him,” Pollard said.

“Hopefully we can get him back fully fit and everything goes well.”

Kennelmates Pure Arrogance and Most Arrogant face an intriguing battle with handy City class chaser I’m Pedro in race five.

Most Arrogant (box eight) looks to have the edge here.

Lucky Quoted and Segeyaro look strong contenders in races two and four after drawing ideally in box one.
