You Can Talk Goes For Four At Albion Park

By Stuart Turner

A change of scenery has helped inspire strong form for You Can Talk and trainer Peter Ruetschi thinks his chaser can secure another win at Albion Park on Thursday.

The chaser jumps from box one in the night’s eighth race, the brisgreys.com Australia Day Trophy Best Eight (520m), aiming for a fourth straight win.

You Can Talk has always been a handy performer but has been impeccable since dropping back to the 431m distance at Ipswich three starts ago.

Ruetschi knows there is tougher opposition lying in wait here but thinks his greyhound is more than up to the task.

“I just wanted to change things around and freshen her up,” he said.

“I think the last start at Ipswich was one of her best runs.

“This is a step up in class but I think she is capable.

“Box one will be extremely helpful for her here (and) she always leads at Albion Park.”

Last year’s Queensland Greyhound of the Year winner, You Can Talk has been a consistent performer for Ruetschi.

A daughter of Outa Credit x Where Are You, she has recorded 22 wins and 22 other placings from 57 starts.

She has a superb record with the red rug and generally runs well at Albion Park.

The opposition here includes recent Gosford Gold Cup placegetter Farmer’s Gold and Tony Brett’s Group-level sprinter Flash Reality, but Ruetschi remains confident.

“Her box manners are her strength,” he said. “Out of the box she’s a 6.50 dog and not many can match that at Albion Park.

“Her middle section is probably her weakest point but she comes home strong.

“Tony’s greyhound is the big danger here and this is obviously higher-quality than what she has been facing, but she’s an honest chaser and can win here.”

Ruetschi said he is considering taking You Can Talk to Melbourne shortly alongside kennelmate stayer Hougenie, who goes in race seven today.

She faces opposition including in-form Kidatee Croc but Ruetschi likes her chances and is also aiming her for the Group 3 Big Dog heats on January 29.

Other strong contenders on the night include Renatus in race six and Velocity Spice in the ninth.
