All Strung Out Continues Perth Cup Prep

By Stuart Turner

Group 2 winner and former Victorian standout sprinter All Strung Out will attempt to continue his good form in Western Australia when racing continues at Cannington on Saturday.

Last year’s Group 2 TAB Great Chase winner and Group 1 Peter Mosman Classic runner-up jumps from box four in the night’s third race, the TABtouch Stakes (530m).

Since transferring to CHRIS Halse’s Nambeelup kennels recently, All Strung Out (pictured) has recorded a win and a placing in his first two starts.

Halse is hopeful he can have more success with All Strung Out and is targeting a crack at the $140,000-to-winner Group 1 Perth Cup, which gets underway on January 31.

“He is a first-class dog,” the trainer said. “I can see he is still has a lot of speed and decent ability.

“We’ve got the Perth Cup coming up in a couple of weeks and that’s one I would like to have a go at with him.

“I think we’ve had her a month or so now and he’s looking good, so hopefully that can continue.

Obviously he will need to get out well here (in this race) but I think he can win.”

All Strung Out was one of the stars of last year’s $75,000-to-the-winner Peter Mosman, recording three second-place finishes to qualify for the final and eventually finish runner-up behind winner Bessy Boo.

The son of Bekim Bale x Casey’s Angel has a solid seven wins and 15 other placings from 27 starts, including his two decent races so far in WA.

All Strung Out has only has two previous starts for a place from box four.

His times have not been particularly outstanding in his two starts at Cannington so far but he should have the class to run well here.

The strongest opposition looks like another from Halse’s kennel, Living Proof (box one).

He has a strong record from box one and has been running well last few starts.

Ben Abercrombie’s Takahashi looks a good chance to continue her strong recent form in the night’s ninth race.

She faces a tough field including All Strung Out but looks a quality stayer and can claim another win with the pink rug here.

Free Candy (race two) and in-form My Mate Cobber in race four also look decent contenders.

Freeway Tempo is a consistent performer and should be good enough to take out race 10.
