Finn Duo Still On Track For National Derby

Anything Less and Winsome Prince are both still set to run in the heats of the National Derby on 24 January despite both falling at Wentworth Park on the weekend.

Both greyhounds were competing in heat six of the Ladbrokes Paws Of Thunder when they struck trouble on the first turn and fell.

There was concern both had injured themselves, but a vet examination straight after the race found no injury to either Anything Less and Winsome Prince.

Winsome Prince's trainer Minnie Finn also confirmed today that both Winsome Prince and Anything Less (trained by husband John) both appeared to pull up well from their falls and barring any further setbacks would take their places in the National Derby heats.

The fall for Winsome Prince was his first defeat at Wentworth Park and meant his record now stands at 13 wins from 15 starts. For Anything Less, meanwhile, the fall was only the third time he had finished out of the placings from 21 career starts.

The National Derby is a three-week series which will be held at Wentworth Park after being staged at Unibet Gardens since 2010. The final is worth $75,000 to the winner.
