Australia's Best Head To Wentworth Park

By Stuart Turner

Star Victorian chasers Dyna Double One and Allen Deed are all ready to give NSW’s hopefuls a stern challenge in this Saturday’s Group 1 Ladbrokes Paws of Thunder (520m) heats.

That’s the message from George Dailly, who will have the duo among 22 kennel members heading to Wentworth Park for what looks a top-quality meeting featuring most of Australia's best greyhounds.

Last Friday night’s Group 2 Gosford Cup winner Ritza Hattie, 2014 star Chica Destacada and boom pup Winsome Prince (pictured) are among the NSW notables featuring in the eight heats of the $100,000-to-the-winner Paws of Thunder.

Dailly said last Saturday’s Group 1 Silver Chief Classic Dyna Double One and super sprinter Allen Deed, who ran a track record at The Meadows last Saturday, should be in top form for the night.

“Dyna Double One is just a baby but I’m sure he will handle the track,” Dailly said.

Allen Deed is good as gold after his run (last Saturday) and is 100 per cent ready to go. As long as he gets a clear run he can run any sort of time here.”

Highlights of the night include the Wentworth Park debut of Melbourne Cup winner Dyna Villa as well as a clash between Chica Destacada and Queenslander Iva Vision, who bagged two Group wins during 2014, in heat two.

The fourth heat features top pup Winsome Mission, the 2014 Topgun winner Buckle Up Wes and My Boy Snoop, who ran a superb 29.27 over 515m at Gosford last Friday night.

Dyna Double One and Allen Deed both go in the fifth heat alongside top SA sprinter Oakvale Destiny and the dangerous Silent Effective.

Boom newcomer Winsome Prince, who has won 13 out of 14, goes in the sixth heat.

Mark Gatt’s Ritza Hattie goes in the eighth heat but has been handed what looks a tough draw from box eight.

The night also features two heats of the Ladbrokes Summer Distance Plate (720m).

Former NSW chaser Space Star, who has been running well in Victoria for Robbie Britton in recent months, goes in the second heat.

Dailly earmarked Fernando Bale and Jayney Bale, who go in the first and third Paws of Thunder heats respectively, as two of his representatives to watch.

He also said Dyna Double One would likely return to Wentworth Park for the Group 1 National Derby later this month, with many of the other chasers also being raced to give them experience of Wentworth Park.

The Paws of Thunder and Summer Plate finals are next Saturday night.
