Hotshots Go Head-To-Head At Nowra

By Stuart Turner

Promising newcomers Rare Pearl and Are Jai Que go head-to-head in an exciting clash at today’s Nowra meeting.

The pair jump from boxes three and four respectively in the Nowra-Wenty heat (520m), the day's eighth race, both aiming to improve their already impressive records.

Michael Clayton’s Are Jai Que has made a superb start to her sprinting career, securing 11 wins from 15 starts.

The daughter of El Grand Senor x From Somewhere has only gone unplaced once so far and has been a real star at country tracks over the shorter distances.

She won on her 520m debut at Wentworth Park last month in a decent 30.25 and looks a strong chance to repeat that win today.

Rare Pearl should pose a tough obstacle, though, having also impressed on his Wentworth Park debut three days earlier.

Steve White’s chaser, who finished third in last month’s $75,000-to-the-winner Group 2 Dapto Puppy Classic,  earned a placing at the Sydney track with a 30.27 run

That took Rare Pearl’s record to four wins and six other placings from 12 starts so far.

Provided he can get a clear run here, Rare Pearl looks to have the advantage but Are Jai Que must be considered.

Impressive Lord Gee (box six), from Alan and Christine Proctor’s quality-packed kennel, can continue his winning ways in race six.

He made it four wins from nine starts with a success over the 472m at Bulli and looks the strongest here.

Lord Gee has a tricky draw but with his record you would have to fancy him for another win here.

Others to watch at Nowra include Toots in race two and race four’s Ticket Master.

The latter is among a handy current kennel for Frances Goodwin, who has been enjoying notable results recently with the likes of Fancy Fran and Oceania.
