Still Searchin' Looks A Hot Discovery

By Stuart Turner

Still Searchin’ looks a strong chance to add to Melinda Finn’s recent run of success while recent Goulburn Cup winner Natural Player is also in action at a cracking Bulli Wednesday meeting.

Finn’s highly promising newcomer looks among the standout chances in the $10,000-to-the-winner Graham Gibbons Memorial Maiden Series Final (472m), the meeting's sixth race.

The newcomer jumps from box seven in the final and looks a strong contender, having run impressively in last week’s heats.

Western Sydney trainer Finn and her husband John have enjoyed a superb end to the year with the likes of boom pup Winsome Prince and may have unearthed another star here.

A daughter of top-drawer sprinter and excellent sire Fabregas and dam Search Party, Still Searchin’ is already shaping up as a nice prospect.

She won on debut in last week’s heats from box three in an impressive 26.58, winning by more than eight lengths.

After coming out of the boxes slowly, she took off at the first bend and then produced a very strong run home to win very comfortably.

Check out the heat win of Still Searchin’ here.

She has previously trialled even quicker than that at Bulli and looks ideally suited to the track.

It looks an intriguing final, with Lucky Road (box six) and Wild Fire in box eight look like providing the strongest opposition.

The latter, one from Mark Gatt’s kennel, starts as the fastest on paper and led all the way in last week’s heats, albeit from the inside.

In other action at Bulli, Natural Player looks the bet of the evening in race four but faces a tough encounter with Winsome Jacko.

The latter, who starts from box eight here, ran a brilliant 26.45 last start here in November and is among Finn’s exciting current kennel.

Natural Player’s win at Goulburn took his record and took his record to a superb 27 wins from 41 starts.

He has a very strong record at Bulli and with his ability box four should not be a problem here.

Other strong chances on the night include Watta Mischief with the red rug in race one,  Asa Hellfire (race eight) and promising Master Gee in race nine.
