Zipping Willow In Pole Position For Gosford Cup

Zipping Willow is the one to beat in next Friday's Group 2 Woy Woy Poultry Supplies Gosford Gold Cup after the Jason Mackay-trained greyhound won her heat and then drew the coveted box one for the $40,000-to-the-winner feature.

Four heats of the cup were held, with Zipping Willow taking out her heat in 29.48 with a very good front-running display. Zipping Willow won by 2 1/4 lengths ahead of Ritza Hattie who also qualified for the cup final.

A win for Zipping Willow in the Gosford Gold Cup will be her third at Group level and take her prizemoney earnings part $200,000.

Zipping Willow's time was second fastest of all heat winners, with the Kristy Sultana-trained Are Jip setting the time standard with a run of 29.36.

Are Jip duelled with Rue De Kahn throughout the heat before pulling away from the National Futurity winner to win by 3 1/2 lengths.

It was the second heat winner for Sultana, with Jewel Action taking out the first heat of the night in 29.70, in front of Magic Display.

The other Gosford Cup heat was taken out by Queenslander Farmer's Gold who defeated Zipping Angel in 29.53.

The Gosford Gold Cup will be held on Friday night and is the latest leg of the Thank Dog It's Friday series, which showcases the best racing regional NSW has to offer in a a primetime Friday night slot.
