No Problems For Denice At Goulburn

By Stuart Turner

Gotta Problem will be aiming to show there’s racing life in the ‘old’ dog yet at Goulburn on Tuesday.

The veteran campaigner, who has enjoyed a distinguished career on the track, jumps from box seven for home trainer Denice Warren in the www.bookies.com.au Stakes (457m).

Usually a stayer, this will be a first outing over 457m for more than a year for Gotta Problem.

He faces some tough opposition but with recent success in the city to his name, trainer Denice Warren is hopeful of another win.

“I’m not overly confident but he should be competitive,” Warren said.

“As a stayer he has no real early pace but he is boxed well here (and) if he is sitting on the leaders coming to the end then he has a chance.

“I’m giving him a run here to get him fit enough for the 700 metre races coming up.

“His first sectionals are not that great because he is a stayer but he is trialling well, God love him.

“He has a chance.”

Gotta Problem has been a real star for Warren, securing 18 wins and 39 other placings in 108 starts.

He turns five later this month but is still producing strong displays, as his win three runs back at Wentworth Park last month illustrates.

“I hope they might give him a birthday cake,” Warren said.

“He just loves racing. He is happy and competitive and still loves poking around.

“He’s just like me really.”

The toughest opposition looks like JODIE Lord’s Yale (box eight), who has drawn well and is a pacy chaser.

This is the ninth of 10 races on the card at Goulburn on Tuesday.

Other notables in action include Mark Wilcox’s Knocka’s Return (race eight).

The experienced sprinter has been racing at Wentworth Park recently and should relish stepping down in class here.

Sir Prasso (race five), Hinderance in race six and Conamara Max in race seven look strong chances to complete the quaddie.

Senorita Escobar (race 10) looks one of the day’s biggest contenders alongside Miss Mariah (race four), who went well at Bulli last two starts.

Goulburn racing starts at 3.22pm.
