Rare Pearl Has Dapto Puppy In His Sight

The Steven White-trained Rare Pearl looks the one to beat in the Group 2 Country Motor Company Puppy Classic at Dapto next Thursday after a dominant win in his his semi final.

Rare Pearl ($2.80) overcame a moderate start to win the fourth semi final by 7 3/4 lengths in a time of 29.83.

If the win was not impressive enough, Rare Pearl's chances of winning the $75,000-to-the-winner feature rose considerably when he was drawn in box eight for the final.

Rare Pearl has a terrific record from the wide alleys, having won three from four when starting from boxes six, seven and eight, so the pink rug should work in his favour next Thursday night.

Fastest semi final winner was the JODIE Lord-trained Magic Earner who led all the way to win the opening leg in 29.77.

It was the first win for Magic Earner in seven starts, and she has drawn box six for next week's final.

Meanwhile, Stilton Lucky continued to be the punters foe when he won for the second week in a row at cricket score odds.

Jumping from box four in the second semi final, Stilton Lucky defied his odds of $50.60, holding off Spring Bonanza to win in 30.09.

The win backed up his victory in a heat of the Puppy Classic last week when he paid the massive price of $62.80.

The other semi final was taken out by the Amy Bennett-trained Lunar Sky in 30.01.

This year's Group 2 Country Motor Company Puppy Classic is open to greyhounds sold through the 2013 Dapto Puppy Auction.

The final will be held next Thursday. The box draw for the race is: 1. Stilton Lucky (Philip Goodsell) 2. Alderley Reform (Terrance Cahalan) 3. Spring Bonanza (Tom Tzouvelis) 4. Tonight Tonight (Garry Edwards) 5. Lunar Sky (Amy Bennett) 6. Magic Earner (JODIE Lord) 7. Bertacious Bee (George Micallef) 8. Rare Pearl (Steven White) 9. Magic Rama (Lorraine Perrin) 10.
