Winsome Pair Go Again At Bulli

By Stuart Turner

Melinda Finn is hoping Winsome Mission and Winsome Jacko can continue her dream run of form at Bulli tonight.

The exciting Chasers go in races four and seven respectively having enjoyed superb early racing careers.

Winsome Mission (box seven)  has won three of his first four starts and is going for the hat-trick at Bulli, having triumphed twice on the south coast over 472m in recent weeks.

Winsome Jacko (pictured), who broke the Maitland 400m track record on debut last month but has not been quite as impressive as his brother since, looks hard to stop jumping from box six here.

“Jacko is well boxed so can win here,” owner-trainer Finn said.

“We had to bring Winsome Mission back down to 400m or else they would have gone in the same race together.

“We’ve got a few good ones going at the moment – we have to train and pace them as best we can.

“They are both looking good and hopefully they will do well (at Bulli).”

Finn also said that Winsome Jacko and Winsome Mission will likely to have a crack at next month’s heats of the Group 1 $100,000-to-the-winner Silver Chief Classic (525m) at The Meadows.

Star littermate Winsome Prince is already pencilled in for the Silver Chief heats after winning nine out of nine.

The unbeaten sprinter, one of Australian greyhound racing's hottest properties, goes again in the eighth race at Maitland on Thursday night.

Finn said Winsome Jacko and Winsome Mission would likely have a preparation run at Wentworth Park between now and the Silver Chief heats, which are on December 20.

The three littermates are part of a super current kennel for Finn and husband/co-trainer John which also includes Anything Less.

This Chaser goes at Wentworth Park this Saturday and will once again face star sprinter Zipping Willow in a mouth-watering clash.

“I’ve got a spring in my step at the moment,” Finn said.  “It’s lovely going to the kennels every morning and seeing half-a-dozen good greyhounds there.

“It’s wonderful at the moment (but) we are trying to let their running do the talking.”

Another exciting pup, Bruce and Julie Fletcher’s Martin Clegg, goes in race six at Bulli tonight.

He has been slightly overshadowed by high-flying kennelmate Whittaker so far but is himself building a strong record.

As well as Martin Clegg and Winsome Jacko, look for Tui The Weapon (race five) and race eight’s Steadfast Cosmo to complete the quaddie at Bulli on Wednesday.
