Whittaker Faces Tough Test At Dapto

By Stuart Turner

Whittaker">Whittaker and Northernette">Northernette – two of the most exciting NSW pups around – clash in what looks a mouth-watering meeting at Dapto tonight.

The pair jump from boxes five and seven respectively in an intriguing Country Motor Company Stakes (520m) looking to improve their already formidable records.

Whittaker (pictured) is one of the state’s hottest prospects and has already clocked a 29.55 run for the 520m at Dapto.

After a slightly lean spell, he bounced back at Dapto last week to chalk up a fifth win in eight starts in an eye-catching 29.79.

Co-trainers Bruce and Julie Fletcher also have another highly promising sprinter, Martin Clegg, jumping from box four in the fifth race of the night, the www.greyhound-data.com.au (1 Win) Final (520m).

He clocked 29.78 to win at Dapto last week.

Northernette goes into  the race with seven wins from 11 starts to her name.

She had a below-par run at Wentworth Park last start but has won two from four at Dapto, including a 29.90 run in September.

Other notables to watch at Dapto on Thursday night include promising pup Sokyo, who jumps from box one in the Puppy Auction Heats 20th November Stakes (520m).

The promising sprinter won last week’s Dapto Rotary Club Maiden Series Final and has placed on every one of his eight races so far.

Velvet Flame (race six), race seven’s Eddard Stark and Kiddie Cutts in race nine all look strong contenders.

Ten races are on the card and action starts at 7.28pm.
