Xtreme Knocka Ready For Vic Peters Showdown

By Stuart Turner

Xtreme Knocka faces some heavyweight opposition in the Group 1 Ladbrokes Vic Peters Classic (520m) semi-finals but trainer Jason Fletcher is confident his greyhound can land a winning blow.

The impressive sprinter (pictured, white rug), who has won five and placed in each of his last 10 outings,  goes from box two in a top-quality semi-final at Wentworth Park.

Saturday’s race, the first of three semi-finals, also features the likes of Paua To Roar (box six) and Lady Ronray in box seven.

Fletcher said his greyhound, who will also face a tantalising rematch with Cosmic Angel (box eight), was primed for another good display.

“He is boxed well,” Fletcher said. “He really needs the inside boxes and I expect him to go well.

“There’s a heap of pace in boxes six, seven and eight but that may help.

“It looks like Lady Ronray and Paua To Roar will be serving it to each other. I am hoping they can knock each other off course and Xtreme Knocka can get to the rail.”

Xtreme Knocka finished second in last week’s heat behind Cosmic Angel, who was one of three heat winners for Anthony Azzopardi.

Cosmic Angel clocked an impressive 29.62 to edge out Xtreme Knocka by more than four lengths.

Fletcher said he was more than satisfied with the display of his greyhound, who has eight wins from 22 starts.

“I was very happy with that effort,” Fletcher said.  “He did well to get through the first turn and keep on chasing.

“I think his run home was something like 11.64 and there were only a couple of others better than that on the night.

“I am fairly confident he can run a place and that’s all you want him to do.”

Are Jip, who won his heat last week in a blistering 29.61, goes from box eight in the third heat.

He has a superb record from that box and could be tough to stop here.

Anything Less, who has recorded back-to-back sub-30 second victories at Wentworth Park in recent weeks, jumps from box five in the first heat.

John Finn’s electric chaser has a superb record at Wentworth Park and was a standout in last week’s heats.

Recent Wentworth Park winner Addison Road (race eight),  Asia’s Babe, who won at Gosford this week and goes in race three here and in-form Dragon Emgrand (race one) are also in action.

Ten races are on the card at Wentworth Park and action starts at 7.27pm.
