Cawbourne Havoc Is A Gosford Record-Breaker

Record-breaking Cawbourne Havoc is a real chip off father Brett Lee's block.

The experienced chaser, who was having his first start in more than three months due to injury, Broke the 400m track record at Gosford on Tuesday night.

It was only a third career run in more than 40 starts at 400m for the sprinter, but he made light of a rare appearance at the distance to claim the Gosford Signs Stakes in a new track best of 22.47.

The $3.70 shot finished six lengths clear of closest rival and $1.80 favourite Soaring Eagle.

The win took Cawbourne Havoc's overall record to a solid 15 wins and nine other placings from 41 starts.

Cawbourne Havoc is the son of famous sprinter Brett Lee, who enjoyed a sparkling racing career.

This is the latest notable feat for Cawbourne Havoc, who is trained by the Hunter Valley's Tarcey Bruce.

Earlier this year he racked up three conseuctive wins at Wentworth Park over 520m.

This was a second track record in three weeks at Gosford, after Avondale Al's recent 29.14 mark for 515m.

Cawbourne Havoc's performance shaved 0.14 off the previous 400m record at the Central Coast track, set by All Tommie in 2012.
