Birkdale Beauty was the surprise fastest qualifier for next Friday night's Group 2 Lismore Workers Club Cup (520m), with the Lee Wylie-trained greyhound taking out her heat in 30.18.

Starting at the huge odds of $37.90, Birkdale Beauty jumped straight to the front and held off a late challenge from Mal Rose Hi to win by a length.

It was Birkdale Beauty's 13th career win and her ninth at the Lismore track.

The daughter of El Grand Senor is trained out of Wylie's property in Condong and based on her heat performance would have to be considered one of the leading chances in the $40,000 to the winner Lismore Cup next week.

Bill's Fantasy ($8.90), meanwhile, was the second fastest qualifier, taking out his heat in 30.19.

The William Elson-trained greyhound was able to cross from box eight and was never in any danger, winning by two lengths over Fusaichi Kahn, with Zipping Zoro a further six lengths away in third.

Walk With Faith ($8.80), meanwhile, just got the better of Yogi Blue to take out her heat in 30.27, with the top two placegetters certainly live chances in next week's heat.

In terms of the run of the night at Lismore, you could not go past Love Kills ($8.70).

Having only gained a start following the scratchings of Le Sirenuse and Premier Mozz, Love Kills was the slowest out of the boxes but produced a devastating turn of foot to run down Outa Tempo and score a stunning win in 30.35.

It was a tough night for Jason MACKAY and Tony Brett, with the leading trainers failing to have a greyhound qualify for the Lismore Cup.

MACKAY had Zipping Summah and Zipping Angel, with the former starting as $1.80 favourite but unable to overcome a poor start before finishing sixth in her heat.

Brett had Exhibitionist and last year's Lismore Cup winner Regal Lauryn, with both unable to finish in the placings.

The Lismore Cup will be staged at a special Friday night meeting next week.

The two week series is the third leg of the new Thank Dog It's Friday racing series which aims to showcase the best provincial racing in a primetime Friday night slot.
