Dapto Megastar winner Tommy Brislane has been ruled out for the upcoming spring riches after he was injured in a trial and .

Tommy Brislane's owner Geoff Slattery posted on Twitter today that the Group 1 winner chipped a bone in a trial at The Meadows last Friday.

"Devastated! Tommy Brislane out for spring/summer. Chipped bone in trial last (Friday)," Slattery tweeted.

Tommy Brislane, trained by Steve White at Nowra Hill, was one of the most in-form greyhound's in Australia having won the Group 1 Dapto Megastar and the Group 2 Bob Payne Spring Sprint in recent weeks.

White said Tommy Brislane (pictured, white rug) could be sidelined for up to six months.

“A top Melbourne veterinary surgeon has said it is the same injury which sidelined Melbourne star Walk Hard for between four and six months," White said.

“I had big plans for Tommy Brislane which included next month’s Melbourne Cup at Sandown and the Silver Chief Classic at The Meadows in December. There is no way he’ll now be in those races but he will stay in Melbourne and hopefully serve a few bitches while he is recuperating.’’

Prior to the injury he was being aimed for the Group 1 Topgun as well as the Group 1 Melbourne Cup.

Tommy Brislane has had 16 starts for 12 wins and earned more than $160,000 in prizemoney.

Despite the setback, Slattery is hopeful his kennel star will make a comeback to the racetrack in 2015.
