Thank Dog It's Friday Returns At Lismore

By Jeff Collerson

Thank Dog It's Friday is back with four heats of the Group 2 Lismore Worker's Club Cup on Friday night.

The Lismore Cup is the second leg of Greyhound Racing NSW's Thank Dog It's Friday racing series, which showcases the best regional racing in NSW in a primetime Friday night slot.

Among those taking part in the heats is ZIPPING Summah (pictured) who earned a trip to the Northern Rivers following a brilliant trial a Unibet Gardens.

Trainer Jason MACKAY will send ZIPPING Summah, along with his dual Wentworth Park winner ZIPPING Angel, to Lismore for the $40,000 to-the-winner series.

"ZIPPING Summah is back to her best and trialled 29.62 on a slow track over 515m at The Gardens less than a fortnight ago," MACKAY said.

"In her favour is that she is a proven performer at Lismore as early in her career she won over the cup course in 30.03, which is flying."

ZIPPING Summah is ideally drawn in box two in the first heat while ZIPPING Angel has not fared as Well having drawn box five in the second heat.

Regal Lauryn took 29.96 to win last year’s Lismore Cup while three of the four previous final winners recorded slower time than ZIPPING Summah’s figures.

But MACKAY’s pair face a tough assignment as Queensland’s big race specialist trainer Tony Brett is Well represented in the Lismore Cup heats.

Brett is seeking his fourth win in the Lismore Cup and has last year's cup winner Regal Lauryn as Well as Exhibitionist.

"Regal Lauryn is trialling as Well as she was when she won last year but is not beginning as quickly," Brett said

After this series I might try her over a middle distance but she is going Well enough to win a second Cup because when I trialled her recently at Lismore she only went a tenth of a second slower than my Queensland Derby winner Flash Reality who I’m saving for the Topgun and Melbourne Cup."
