Evil Punk Injured

Evil Punk is unlikely to race again after suffering a serious leg injury.

A devastated trainer Jim Coyle said his star sprinter broke his right hind leg during a trial last week.

"He has had two pins inserted and the leg is in plaster," Coyle said.

“Evil Punk has made a stack of big race finals without winning one and now this has happened.

"He was the only greyhound I had in work so I guess if I didn’t have bad luck I wouldn’t have any luck."

Prior to the injury Evil Punk (pictured, yellow rug) was being aimed at the heats of the Group 1 Melbourne Cup in November.

Evil Punk has had 55 career starts for 15 wins, including five victories at Wentworth Park. He has competed in four Group finals, including this year's Group 1 Golden Easter Egg and the Group 1 National Derby where he finished runner-up to Zipping Brock.
