Help Raelee Lead The Fight Against Cancer

By Stuart Turner

Greyhound racing supporters across NSW can once again help raise potentially life-saving funds.

Gosford Greyhound Racing Club is hosting a Pink Ribbon-themed meeting on Tuesday, September 30 in aid of the Cancer Council.

All money collected from the event, which has been organised by Central Coast trainer and cancer survivor Raelee Shearer (pictured), will go towards supporting the Council’s fight against breast and gynaecological cancers.

The meeting has been sponsored by several businesses, stud masters, greyhound industry and local community members.

All are invited to the meeting, which promises plenty of entertainment.

There will be a feature race - The Pink Ribbon Day Stakes – which will feature the best eight fifth grade bitches nominated.

A top prize of $1300, a presentation rug and trophy will be up for grabs at the event.

Other fun and games, including a raffle, face painting, pink hairspray, pink nails and a lolly guessing competition will also be hosted.

Greyhounds As Pets (GAP) officials will also be attending the event, which has been held in previous years and been a success.

All money raised from the night will also support Cancer Council’s work with patients and families who have been affected by the disease.

Entry tickets ($5 per adult) can be pre-purchased by contacting Raelee on 0415 098 443. Proceeds from these ticket sales go towards donations.

Children under 18 are free.
