Dailly Bunch Ready To Dominate Bob Payne Heats

By Jeff Collerson

Victoria's all conquering Dailly kennels took out the 2013 Golden Easter Egg with Grigorieva Bale and are set to plunder more Group race spoils in the Bob Payne heats at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

There is some wonderful action in store, with the likes of last week's Megastar winner and runner-up Tommy Brislane and Ritza Hattie, recent Nationals winner Chica Destacada, dangerous Stilton Blue (pictured) and a host of other top greyhounds in action.

Trainer Tom Dailly yesterday declared three of the kennels’ five starters ideally drawn in the four heats of the Bob Payne.

The Dailly team at Wentworth Park comprises Allen Deed, who has box eight in the first heat, Ollie Bale, box two in heat two, Maximum Lil, drawn in eight in the third heat and Crackerjack Dak and Musquin Bale, boxed in one and eight respectively in heat four.

Allen Deed, Maximum Lil and Crackerjack Dak are perfectly positioned,’’ Dailly said.

“And Ollie Bale is nicely drawn and while Musquin Bale is nearing the end of his career, box eight suits him okay too.

Allen Deed has a big motor and because he gets wide box eight is perfect.

“His only flaw is that he doesn’t have brilliant early speed but if he is left alone early he will be hard to hold out.

Maximum Lil is a bit funny in a field so she could not be better drawn than in box eight.

Crackerjack Dak is up against Chica Destacada, who beat him in the National Sprint Championship in Perth, and Tommy Brislane. But Crackerjack Dak is absolutely flying at the moment and he is desperate for the rails.

“When he draws wide he wants to crash towards the fence so box one is terrific for him.

Ollie Bale has won two from four Wentworth Park starts and seems to have taken a liking to the track.

“He is going every bit as good as he was when he broke the 30 seconds barrier twice in April.’’

Queensland’s Give You Credit trialled a nippy though not spectacular 30.10 over 520m at Albion Park on Monday night but trainer Peter Rueschi says the dog needed the run and is ready to win Saturday night’s third Bob Payne heat.

“He had not had a gallop since he raced on September 4 so blew up a bit after Monday’s trial,’’ Rueschi said.

“The run will do him the world of good and he is going as well as he was when he beat Rue De Kahn at his first Wentworth Park start on August 16.

“Give You Credit had never seen Wenty before that night and as he usually improves with the benefit of a run on a track I expect him to go close to winning.

“He certainly could not be better drawn than in box one.’’

Saturday’s safest bet is Dusty Moonshine, fresh from a record-breaking win 729m win at Dapto.

Dusty Moonshine has box six in the opening event, the 720m Bohemia Crystal Stakes, and her connections have always preferred seeing her drawn in one of the three outside boxes.
