Aussie Quoted Faces Acid Test At Bulli

By Stuart Turner

Aussie Quoted has been an early standout for Ian Morgan but the owner/trainer thinks his greyhound will do it tough at Bulli on Wednesday.

The impressive newcomer will go for his sixth win in seven starts in the www.southernengines.com 1-4 Wins Final (472m) but faces a good test of his potential.

Among the field is the Mark Gatt-trained pair Encapsulate and Jett Setter (boxes six and seven respectively) and Anthony Azzopardi’s Topper Road.

Morgan said the latter, who starts from box eight, could prove tricky to stop.

“The eight is a good dog and will be hard to beat,” he said.

“The two dogs are the standout for me.

“I would like to think that mine is better than Topper Road but I wouldn’t criticise him (Aussie Quoted) if he lost.”

Aussie Quoted is an impressive newcomer, having defied early injury problems to record some good results.

He won four of his first starts – all at 400m – before winning on his debut over 472m at Bulli last week in a handy 26.37.

Morgan thinks starting from box two this time out will also help his charge.

“He is fast at the start so the inside suits him more,” Morgan said.

“I trialled him over 500m at Richmond early in his career so I’m sure he will have no trouble stepping up in distance.”

Aussie Quoted looks one to keep an eye on over the next few months, although Morgan said he was taking a cautious approach.

“”I will take him to the city in time but there’s other races first,” he said.

“There’s a Blue Paws Series at Maitland coming up soon over 450m. We’ll have a go with him in that.

"He has won five or six races in fifth grade but now he has got to step up. I’m not getting carried away with him yet.”

The race is the eighth on the card at Bulli.

Other notables racing include recent Group 3 Dapto Maiden winner Winsome Prince, who takes on Derenger (pictured, red rug) in the meeting’s sixth race.

The latter is building a decent record and won well over 520m at Dapto last Friday.

Paua Outburst in race two and Ando’s Magic (race three) also look decent contenders.

Ten races are on the card at Bulli Wednesday and action starts at 7.05pm.
