Boss Electro Aims To Spark At Bulli

By Stuart Turner

Boss Electro has given Majella Ferguson plenty to ponder but he may be about to come good at Bulli on Wednesday.

The handy but inconsistent chaser goes from box one in the first of two South Coast Sprint Series (472m) heats.

Boss Electro won on debut over 400m at Maitland in July but has been unable to replicate that win in five subsequent meetings.

He impressed last week on a debut 472m run at Bulli, though, and trainer Ferguson thinks he could go well again here.

“He surprised us a bit but we were really impressed with that run last week,” she said.

“He trialled well at Bulli the week before as well so maybe the track suits him.

“He sometimes pulls up sore with his metacarpals so they may have been troubling him. Hopefully he is over that now and ready to go well.”

Boss Electro has the red rug but the inside does not seem to suit him, as he has disappointed in both previous outings from the rail.

“He is not desperate for the eight, so I’m not sure why he isn’t going well,” Feergsuon said.

“Maybe he’s just being a typical male – you never know what to expect.”

Ferguson also has veteran Electro Storm returning from more than two months out in the Southern Engine Reconditioning Stakes (400m).

“Realistically he is not a 400m dog but he has been trialling well so we thought we would give this a go,” Ferguson said.

“It’s an early race which is good for him and box four will help too. He’s a bad kennel dog – always barking and making a noise – so being in there shorter will help.

“It’s a good draw for him – and probably means less noise for everyone else too.”

Whittaker, who was fancied for last Thursday’s Group 3 Dapto Maiden final but missed out on the top prize, goes in the second heat.

Bruce and Julie Fletcher's greyhound has alrerady trialled well over 472m at Bulli and is one to keep a close eye on.

The opposition includes Ish Won (box eight), who is building a decent record and had a solid debut over 472m at Bulli last week.

The top two from both heats progress automatically to next Friday’s $3500-to-the-winner final at Dapto.
