Ginn Hopes For Another Tonic With Vayetra

By Stuart Turner

Amanda Ginn is hoping Vayetra can take another step towards a personal milestone with success at Bathurst on Monday.

The experienced campaigner goes in the Bathurst Automotive Stakes (450m) aiming for his third win in four races.

Vayetra is part of a six-strong profitable litter for trainer Ginn, who works out of the Central West town of Cudal.

The greyhounds have chalked up more than 70 wins between them – and Ginn is aiming for a few more yet.

“I’m hoping to get 80 wins from them,” she said. “I’ll be pleased with that.

“I don’t think it’s common to get that number of wins from a litter of six. They’ve been a good money-spinner for us.

“They are country dogs and they have not won anything big, but we are very happy with them.”

Vayetra has been one of the most in-form country greyhounds in recent months, eight placings from his last nine starts.

He starts from box five today but doesn’t mind jumping from the middle, as he won from box four at both Canberra last time out and also at Grafton earlier this month.

The field includes Collisioner, who has also gone below 26 seconds for the distance and is a handy performer.

“It’s a hard race,” Ginn said. “If he jumps well though, he’s got a chance.

“The boxes don’t seem to matter to him. He just has the drive.

“He jumped a length at Canberra and if he can do the same (today), they will struggle to catch him.

“He is still running good times (and) has not lost it.”

Vayetra has a solid 15 wins and 21 placing from 52 starts and has racked up wins at a handful of country tracks.

“He did the best time of the day at Grafton,” Ginn said. “He is really consistent.

“He is such a sweet dog (as well). He is quiet and loves a good pat.

“I think he can knock off a few more wins yet.”

The race is the ninth of ten on the card at Bathurst, with action under way at 4.02pm.
