All To Well Makes An Impact

It was only a humble middle distance maiden event but last Wednesday’s Richmond meeting could Well have unearthed a potential long distance star in the Peter Sims-trained All To Well.

Having only her second start and her first hit-out beyond a sprint distance, All To Well blitzed her 618m rivals by just on 16 lengths in 35.30, just .03sec outside the track record.

Peter, who trains at Illabo, near Wagga, said yesterday: “I knew she was good but you don’t know how good they are until they are put to the test.

“I’ve been having trouble finding a middle distance maiden for her so it’s great to get that first win out of the way because I now have several options with her.

“I’ll probably head to Bathurst for a 618 metre fifth grade, then take her back to Richmond for another 618m event before stepping her up to 717m at Richmond and then 720m at Wentworth Park.

“I train All To Well for Tyrone Whittington and Greg Sprod who have poured a lot of money into the sport.

“All To Well is a good kennel dog and has a lovely temperament so down the track, considering she is a litter sister to Shakey Jakey, she is going to make a wonderful brood bitch for the boys.’’

Western Sydney market gardener Michael Galea may head to Shepparton with Monster Storm following the brilliant speedster’s 13th win in 23 starts at Maitland last Wednesday.

Monster Storm, usually a fast beginner, dwelt at the start but still managed to win in a slick 22.68 for the 400m.

“But that distance is about as far as he can run,’’ Michael, whose father Lewis owns the dog, said.

“I’ll enter Monster Storm for fourth grade heats at Maitland this week but then I might take him to Shepparton for a 390 metre race.

“That track should suit him and he is now first grade at Goulburn and third grade at Bulli and at Maitland TABC meetings so it is going to be hard to place him.

Monster Storm is out of an unraced bitch named Monster Heart who came in season every five months so it was too difficult to give her a racing preparation.

“She is a litter sister to Mighty Stride who won twice at Wentworth Park for us but dropped a back muscle after just seven races.

Monster Heart had 10 puppies including Monster Storm and dad and I have them all.

“One of these pups, Mighty Hurricane, is a bit quicker than Monster Storm but he can be tardy early and has hit the running rail three times at Bulli.’’

Light Fantastic gave owner-trainer Jason Fletcher plenty of heartache and headaches on the racetrack but is poised to become a great producer after a sensational performance trial at Maitland last Wednesday by her son Fantastic Sid.

Despite having never seen Maitland and going into a headwind, the unraced youngster sped over the 450m in 25.26, not far outside champion Paw Licking’s track record of 24.87.

Jason scratched Fantastic Sid’s litter brother Fantastic Spiral from the trial after that dog had clocked a blistering 22.40 in a 400m hit-out at Bulli.

“There are three in Light Fantastic’s first litter to Spiral Nikita who can really run,’’ Jason said yesterday.

“They can all clock between 22.40 and 22.55 at Bulli.

Light Fantastic has since had a second litter to Goodesy which are 10 months old while her third litter, by Swift Fancy, which include a pure white dog, are three months of age.

Light Fantastic was a litter sister to Jason Thompson’s top notcher El Brooklyn but while she had as much ability as that greyhound she had a mind of her own, to put it kindly.

“She could run record times in trials but in a race she only had to get touched and she would put the brakes on!’’
