Comeback For Clockwise At Wenty

By Jeff Collerson

Clockwise returns to the track on Saturday night after undergoing revolutionary stem cell treatment to heal an injury which has sidelined her for almost a year.

The 2013 Wentworth Park Magic Maiden winner has had what John Carruthers, whose wife Jane owns and trains the bitch, describes as an “on-going stopper bone tendon problem.’’

“Jane and I thought we had it right a couple of times but then the injury would recur," John said.

"We finished up sending Clockwise to Melbourne for stem cell treatment. Since having that she seems to have come good.

She recorded 30.01 in a stewards trial at Wenty last Saturday before trialling 29.97 there on Tuesday night.’’

Clockwise has box six in Saturday night’s second heat of the Bohemia Crystal Sprint Series and with a clear run will be hard to hold out.

“She is too slow early to ever be considered a good thing in a 520 metre race but is going well enough to give it a shake if she has a bit of luck in running,’’ John said.

Wentworth Park premiership winning trainer JODIE Lord has bright prospects of landing a double on Saturday night at the Glebe track.

JODIE has strong chances with Magic Dream, who has box three in the AAA Radiator Specialists Stakes, and with Cawbourne Power, who has drawn seven in the www.Wentworthpark.com.au Stakes.

Magic Dream was having only his third Wentworth Park start when he led throughout at a TAB C Monday night meeting on June 23 in 30.10.

While he goes up in class slightly on Saturday he possesses the dash to lead throughout from box three.

“Magic Dream is only just coming good,’’ JODIE said yesterday.

“He has good early speed and is pretty reliable beginner.’’

Ironically Magic Dream’s main danger could be kennelmate Cawbourne Kayono, the first reserve.

Cawbourne Kayono is going really well but has been racing without luck,’’ JODIE said.

Cawbourne Power lacks early speed but is well boxed out wide in seven and has had a win and nine placings in 17 Wentworth Park races.

“His effort to win at his last start at Canberra was first rate,’’ JODIE said.

Knot Telling Ya has won five races at Wentworth Park but none of his wins were more impressive than his desperately unlucky third to Senorita Selena at the Glebe track on June 27.

The dog was hampered twice from box eight and although he has drawn five in Saturday night’s Petsnacks Stakes he has the early zip to be one of the first turn leaders.

Noelene Holloway, who had the honour of training Queen Esther, winner of the last race called by the legendary Paul Ambrosoli last Saturday night, can continue her winning run with Fascinate Mary in the third heat of the Bohemia Crystal Sprint Series.

Fascinate Mary led and was run down in her early Wentworth Park races but has become stronger in recent weeks and is tipped to lead throughout from box five.
